The Leafs have had a dream of an offseason. Even though they lost James Van Riemsdyk and Tyler Bozak, they signed the biggest fish in the free agent market. John Tavares has turned the Leafs into a Cup contender. Their top three centermens, (Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Nazem Kadri) have scored 103 goals combined last season. Their offence will be top 5 in the league this season for sure. I think they should of added a Top 4 veteran defenseman, but the organization feels confident in the young talent they have in their system. Their goaltending depth took a hit by losing Curtis McElhinney and Calvin Pickard through waivers. The one thing they haven’t dealt with yet is the contract of William Nylander. They need to get that done before the season starts or things will get ugly in the future. I do think they are a Cup contender but I don’t see them winning it this year. It will sure be an exciting season.

Offseason Grade:
